Scott Gilmore is an abstract painter based in Toronto and Creemore, Ontario. After attending the Ontario College of Art and Design out of high school and selling his directorial and scriptwriting debut Bouncing Back to the CBC, he decided to focus his creativity solely on painting. Over the past six years—guided by his mentor Jonathan Dunkelman—Scott has refocused his approach and developed his unique style.

His work creates a sense of what he describes as "chaotic harmony," exploring the relationships between line, shape, colour and open space. His pictures evoke a feeling of seeing something oddly familiar for the first time. Scott's process, "psychic automatism," allows his subconscious to express itself through free-association, abandoning preconceived ideas and recognizable forms for his painterly language. Rather than using source material or visual cues, everything is conceived spontaneously through self-discovery, continual refinement and a connection to surrounding nature.

He increasingly spends much of his time in Creemore, at his studio, with his loving wife Paige and their Australian Shepherd Blu (or "Goose," as he calls him).

Scott Gilmore lives and works in Toronto and Creemore, ON Canada.
